Candle the egg to locate the blood vessel needed to collect the blood. Draw a circle around this vessel marking where to sand.
Sander used for creating a small hole in the egg. Apply light pressure to the egg against the sander. Leave the inner membrane intact.
The size of the hole should be no bigger than a quarter.
Locate the blood vessel once again just to make sure you sanded exactly where you needed to.
Apply a small amount of sterile mineral oil on the sanded area to help prevent air to enter the egg and it also helps to see the blood vessel a little better. If the mineral oil should happen to dry out, apply again.
While candeling, insert needle and collect about .02 CC of blood.
Another angle to see this step a little clearer.
Apply tegaderm over the hole.
Place a small amount of blood on ZooMark blood collection card.
